History
Our hotel complex was named in honor of Elrey Borge Jeppesen who had founded his company in 1934 while working in Varney Airlines. He was the first who started to plot maps for providing navigation during flights. In early the collected information and drawn patterns were meant for private use, but shortly the pilot understood that his records had some commercial potential. Copies of his collected articles began to be sold at the price of 10 US Dollars. Step-by-step, set of maps was broadened due to other pilots, who transferred their records to Jeppesen. At the end of the 1930-s Jeppesen started to work for United Airlines, this company was the first one which used his maps. Gradually compiling the collection began to take up too much time and became the main source of income for its creator. So he gave up the position of pilot.
